Position Overview

Freshwater Curated Goods™ is looking for an organized, creative, and customer-focused Retail Store Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our downtown Augusta retail storefront.

This person will be responsible for creating an exceptional in-store experience, leading and developing our retail team, driving sales, maintaining a beautiful and well-merchandised shop, and ensuring the store operates smoothly each day.

We're looking for someone who doesn't just maintain the store, but takes ownership of it. Someone who notices what needs to be done, brings new ideas to the table, understands our customer, and takes pride in making Freshwater a destination people want to visit again and again.

As this person grows within the role and develops a strong understanding of the Freshwater customer and retail assortment, there will also be opportunities to become involved in retail buying and attend buying markets and trade shows alongside our team.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations & Leadership

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Freshwater retail store.
• Open and close the store and ensure all daily procedures are completed accurately.
• Create and manage the retail team schedule based on business needs.
• Lead, train, and support retail team members while setting clear expectations for customer service and store standards.
• Help onboard and train new team members.
• Delegate daily responsibilities and ensure tasks are completed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and well-stocked store environment.
• Communicate store needs, customer feedback, staffing concerns, and opportunities to ownership.
• Help establish and improve store procedures as the retail business continues to grow.

Sales & Customer Experience

• Create a warm, engaging customer experience that reflects the Freshwater brand.
• Lead by example on the sales floor and help team members confidently engage with customers and recommend products.
• Track store sales and key performance metrics and communicate results with ownership.
• Work toward store sales goals and identify opportunities to increase traffic, conversion, and average order value.
• Understand best sellers, slow-moving products, and customer requests and communicate those insights to the appropriate teams.
• Handle customer service situations, returns, exchanges, and other in-store concerns professionally.

Visual Merchandising

• Own the overall presentation and merchandising of the store.
• Regularly clean, refresh displays and reorganize merchandise to keep the shop feeling new and inspiring.
• Merchandise new arrivals, seasonal collections, promotions, and product launches.
• Decorate and transition the store for holidays and seasonal moments.
• Ensure signage, pricing, displays, and promotional materials are current and accurate.
• Maintain Freshwater's visual standards throughout the store.

Inventory & Product Management

• Maintain organized back-stock inventory and ensure products can be easily located and replenished.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate restock needs.
• Receive, organize, price, and merchandise incoming retail inventory.
• Assist with inventory counts and maintaining inventory accuracy.
• Manage apparel inventory on the Freshwater retail website and ensure online availability accurately reflects inventory.
• Implement approved price changes both in-store and online.
• Help identify inventory opportunities based on customer requests and sales performance.

In-Store Events & Community

• Plan and coordinate Freshwater's in-store events, promotions, and special shopping experiences with the ownership & events committee.
• Manage event logistics, setup, staffing, refreshments, signage, and store preparation.
• Work with the marketing team to ensure events are communicated and promoted appropriately.
• Help develop ideas that drive customers into the store and strengthen Freshwater's presence within the Augusta community.
• Coordinate with outside vendors and partners when needed for store events.

Customer Communication

• Manage the Freshwater store email account.
• Respond to customer questions and inquiries in a timely, friendly, and professional manner.
• Handle store-specific questions regarding products, availability, events, returns, and other customer needs.
• Maintain Freshwater's brand voice and customer service standards across all communications.

Retail Buying & Assortment Development

This will be a growth area of the position as the Store Manager gains experience and demonstrates a strong understanding of the Freshwater customer and retail vision.

• Learn Freshwater's retail customer, aesthetic, price points, product mix, and merchandising strategy.
• Review sales performance and customer feedback to help identify assortment opportunities.
• Assist ownership with evaluating new products and vendors.
• Gradually take on responsibility for purchasing third-party merchandise for the retail store.
• Manage reorder needs and help maintain an appropriate balance of inventory.
• Attend buying markets and trade shows alongside the Freshwater team as appropriate.
• Eventually take greater ownership of the store's buying strategy after demonstrating a strong understanding of the Freshwater aesthetic and customer.

What We're Looking For

• Previous retail experience required; retail management or leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Strong customer service and people-management skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Self-motivated and proactive, ie. you notice what needs to be done and take initiative.
• Strong visual eye and an interest in merchandising, fashion, accessories, gifting, and lifestyle products.
• Comfortable working with sales numbers and using performance to make decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable learning and working within Shopify and other retail technology.
• Reliable, professional, and comfortable taking ownership of the store.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, events, and other key retail periods as needed.
• Ability to lift and move merchandise, fixtures, boxes, and displays as required by normal retail operations.

This role is ideal for someone who loves graphic design just as much as they love bringing a brand to life online. From creating beautiful marketing emails to managing our retail and wholesale online presence and helping launch new collections, you'll play an important role in how customers experience Freshwater every day.

What You'll Do:

MARKETING & CREATIVE

• Design and build retail marketing emails in Klaviyo
• Create graphics for our website, social media, digital ads, and marketing campaigns
• Design catalogs, postcards, signage, and printed marketing materials
• Assist in executing seasonal product launches
• Help maintain a consistent visual identity across every customer touchpoint
• Collaborate with our marketing team on creative concepts and campaigns

WEBSITE & E-COMMERCE

• Manage the day-to-day upkeep of our Shopify retail website & wholesale websites
• Upload new products, collections, photography, and content
• Write and optimize product listings
• Organize collections and merchandising
• Ensure inventory, apps, and integrations are functioning properly
• Test new features and troubleshoot website issues
• Continuously improve the online shopping experience

REQUIREMENTS:

• Graphic design experience
• Strong understanding of layout, typography, and branding
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

We’re looking for a Production Assistant to join our vibrant, all-women production crew in our Downtown Augusta, GA facility. This role is hands-on, detail-oriented, and perfect for someone who loves creative, behind-the-scenes work and wants to be part of a fast-paced and growing small business. Whether you're interested in arts, manufacturing, or entrepreneurship, this is a great opportunity to learn how a product-based business runs from the inside out. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with daily product finishing (assembling keychains, pet tags, bag charms, jewelry, packaging apparel, etc.)
• Tag, clean, organize, and package all Freshwater products
• Pack and ship wholesale and online retail orders with care and attention to presentation
• Monitor and restock supply inventory as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized production space (sweeping, trash, tool cleaning, etc.)

ROLE OVERVIEW

Freshwater Curated Goods is growing — and our flagship storefront in downtown Augusta is the heart of it all. We’re looking for a motivated, self-starting Retail Associate who is excited not only to work in the shop, but to grow into a Shop Lead role over time.

This role is ideal for someone with retail experience (preferred) who loves creating a welcoming in-store experience, takes pride in a beautifully run shop, and is always looking for ways to improve systems, displays, and the overall customer experience. In addition to daily retail tasks, this position will occasionally assist our production team with small, hands-on projects as needed. We’re a small business, and everyone pitches in.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Experience & Shopkeeping:

• Greet customers warmly and create a friendly, approachable environment
• Learn and share the story behind our products to help customers find the perfect gift or treat for themselves
• Inform customers of current promotions, collections, and shop policies
• Process purchases and handle returns accurately and efficiently
• Maintain a clean, organized, and beautifully styled storefront (sweeping, dusting, restocking, tidying, watering plants, etc.)
• Help set up, refresh, and improve in-store displays and window merchandising — and proactively suggest ideas
• Assist with in-store events, including setup, breakdown, customer engagement, merchandising touch-ups, and overall event support
  

Inventory, Operations & Growth

• Accept incoming deliveries and packages
• Tag, label, and input new inventory into our system
• Restock shelves and monitor inventory levels on the floor
• Perform opening and closing duties as scheduled
• Take initiative in noticing what the shop needs: organization projects, restocking, signage, display tweaks, etc.
• Show leadership potential with strong communication, reliability, and a desire to grow into a Shop Lead role
  

Shipping, Fulfillment & Production Support

• Package and ship all retail orders from our website (Freshwater & Swim In Jewelry)
• Ensure orders go out in a timely, accurate, and nicely presented manner
• Assist the production team with small tasks as needed (stickering, assembling, packaging, prepping materials, etc.)
• Be willing to jump in wherever help is needed — we’re a collaborative, all-hands-on-deck crew
  

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous retail experience preferred (boutique or customer-facing experience is a plus)
• Self-starter who can see what needs to be done and take action without constant direction
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a busy environment
• Positive, friendly attitude and great communication skills with both customers and teammates
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team
• Reliable and punctual — Saturday availability is required
